The Lowdown Stompers playing at The 2014 Winter Masquerade!

It’s been a CRAZY busy fall! Lots of weddings, holiday parties and the like. Luckily, we prefer to stay extra busy, which makes the Fall months our favorite time of the year!

We’ve added another exciting event to the calendar. We’ll be appearing in our expanded version (The Mike Sailors Swing Dance Orchestra) as the featured entertainer at The McKitrrick Hotel’s Winter Masquerade. This is NYC’s most decadent New Years Eve party, and it surely is not to be missed!

New Residency for The Mike Sailors Swing Dance Orchestra!

The Mike Sailors Swing Dance Orchestra (brainchild of the bandleader of The Stompers) has been offered a residency at one of NYC’s coolest performance spaces, The Manderley Bar, which is located inside of The McKittrick Hotel, Home of Sleep No More.

We start on November 30th, and we’ll play every Sunday from 9:15-10:15 ish. There’s no cover at The Manderley, and the bar is excellent!

Wedding Second Line on Wall St!

Back in May, the Stompers second lined down Wall Street to celebrate the wedding of our new friends Mr. Amaso and Mrs. Davis! They truly put on one of the most memorable wedding events we’ve ever been to!

To quote the newlyweds:

A Spring Time Wedding Proposal Assisted by The Stompers!

On 3-29, Mike and Sam had the great honor of assisting our new friend Ryan McCarthy in the biggest question he to ask that day – his girlfriend’s hand in marriage! The couple met at the Spring Street stop off of the C train a number of years ago. Ryan decided to come back to the exact spot they met to pop the big question while Mike and Sam serenaded in the background.

Spoiler alert – she said yes! Here are some photos from the special day.

Music for a snow day!

Well, it’s been a particularly grueling winter for us NYC residents, meteorologically speaking. Today’s snowstorm means a few more weeks of soggy commutes and wet socks. O well, it’s the price you pay for living in the Big Apple, right?!

Here’s one of our favorite snow day jazz tunes! It was composed by the great Irvin Berlin in 1937 for the musical “On The Avenue“. Hopefully you can kick your feet up (after they dry) and let your mind wander to tropical locales!

Lowdown at The 2014 NDSS Gala!
