We had the distinct pleasure of being invited to perform for Common Ground’s 11th Annual Celebrating Home & Community Gala at NYC’s iconic Vanderbilt Hall, located inside of Grand Central Station. We had a GREAT time playing for people who truly do great things for our society.

The entire event was such a huge undertaking. Many thanks to Frederique Henriot and all the other event planners that worked tirelessly to ensure that this event was a huge success! Follow this link for more information about this incredible event!

This past Saturday, the Lowdown Stompers Brass Band were invited to walk in the Pitkin Ave Halloween Parade. We had a BLAST! Many thanks to What’s Up New York? for capturing video at the end of our route. Here we are playing a good ol’ goody, the New Orleans dirge “St. James Infirmary”.

Song of The Week!

October 8th, 2013    Posted in Uncategorized

Last month, we played a beautiful wedding at Kips Castle in New Jersey for our new friends Amanda and Steve. They requested a song that we’d never played before called “I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire” by The Ink Spots. This is a GREAT song with a great old school “Bob Wills meets Barber Shop Quartet meets Johnny Cash” feel. After the event, we decided to keep the tune in our repertoire because everyone in the band liked it so much!

Interestingly enough, Steve (the Groom) first heard this song in the video game “Fallout 3″. I didn’t even know they put old school jazz tunes in video games these days – COOL!

Anyway, here’s “I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire”, by The Ink Spots
